Out of School

Finally, I'm out of school. I deserve a break. My grades are not as good as I had hoped. I think I may have got a D in Algebra 2. I missed a day in school, and I missed a test that day. I could have taken it the next day and everything would have been fine, but, as some of you may know, I have a procrastination problem. So, by the time I thought I was ready to take the test the opportunity had passed. However, I was awarded a Certificate of Outstanding Academic Performance for scoring in the top ten percent of students nationally in taking the Iowa Tests, and my area was in mathematics. That has to count for something doesn't it? Along with that award, I also got 3 other certificates, one for doing well in english, one for being a Computer Wiz, and one for being a Financial Wiz. I beleive that makes up for my bad grade. If it doesn't, then it will always be a reminder of my bad habit. I just wish I had some help breaking this habit. I probably could have had A's in all of my classes. I feel proud of myself all the same.

Grades aren't as important as what you actually learn. That's my guide. The thing about learning is that if you don't ever use what you learn, then you easily forget it. I took math all the way up to pre-calc. but I hardly ever use algebra, in my daily life.

Do you think having to save gold in your video games helps you be a financial wiz?

Dad used to be more proud of me after I felt I had failed a class (with my A-) then when I pulled an A out of the class. He used to tell me that he would take me out to dinner if I ever actually failed a class. I agree with Wesley. What you learn is more important than the grade. And, I think that "failing" a class helps you learn something too. Good job, Bud.

Even if I don't fail Algebra 2, I think I've learned that my habit of putting my games before my work is killing me. However, if playing games helps me become a financial wiz, then they might be worth playing. ;)
