Update

On May 7th 2011, I turned in a letter of resignation at Big Al's Pizza. Wesley helped me make it short and sweet. "Don't burn any bridges" he said. "I'm sure you'd still like to eat there at least." So here is what my letter said:

To whom it may concern,

I have been offered a full time job with a higher salary than my current pay, so as of now, I am resigning from my position at Big Al's Pizza. This is my two weeks notice. Thank you.

Big Al's is in pretty bad shape. Since I've started working there, 4 of my co-workers have quit; all of them being better workers than me. So for the last couple of weeks its been like playing catch up. I have a list of things to do when I get there, and I never get everything on the list done because I needed to help out front rather than focus on preparing food in the back, or because there was simply too much to do. Finally, one night, two other people who were supposed to close the store with me called and said they couldn't come in that night. Thankfully, they pulled Elisabeth's sister Esther from the front of Cost Savers and had her come work with me closing Big Al's. We spent extra hours after work catching up on a lot of things that needed to be done. We finally got out of the store around 11:30 pm. Esther said that in all the time she has worked there, she never worked that late before. (I think she said she has been there for years) I came in at 11:00 am that morning, so I literally worked half the day. Needless to say, I was not pleased with working so late. Getting paid overtime doesn't mean I'll have the energy to work the next day. (which I did)

This, among other things, is why I decided I needed a new job. A store called Safeway had like 8 positions to be filled at their store, so I applied to be a Night Stocker, and I've pretty much got the job now. I'll be going in for training tomorrow. I'm still working at Big Al's, but I'll be gone in less than two weeks. Wesley even wrote "Rapture" on the 21st of our calender in the kitchen.

Other than that, things have been about the same. I've pretty much been able to live off of the tips I've received at Big Al's. Meaning I've been living on even less than what I used to. (No more hotpockets or frozen pizzas) My paychecks are just being saved up, being used for larger things like rent and Chelsee's graduation present. (You graduated! That's like passing go right? Here's $200. Yay money!) I still haven't explored much of the island, but I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually. I'll try to take more pictures. I love and miss you all and hope to come visit soon.
