Long Ago in a Basement Far Far Away

Its been a little more than half a year since I've left Utah now. Lots of things have changed. Back in Utah, I was the boy with no friends and no job, playing games night and day in my grandma's basement living with my dad who supported me. Now I'm a man with a few friends who I spend lots of time with, I have a job, and I still play games every now and then, living upstairs in a house with 2 awesome brothers, 1 awesome sister, an annoying lovable dog, and a master-of-the-house kitty, paying rent and buying my own food with a good deal of money to spare.

To make things even better, I've cut my ties with some of my phone friends you may know. Kristy gave me the impression she was really considering coming up here to live with me. She finally got away from Caleb, and she awaits the divorce papers. She said she might come visit me and see if she likes it here. So she and I were flirting one day and then she started talking about her maybe future boyfriend Zack. (She still can't decide what she wants) I told her I didn't like feeling like I was in competition with him, and she said "You're not in competition with him Geoff. He's here and you're not." and after a moment in silence she hung up the phone. She and I haven't spoken since. I think that was 3 weeks ago. I'm through with her. I only vaguely want to contact her again to see if she's still alive. She was having some medical problems as usual. "My whole left side is numb, but I'll be fine. I'll pull through. I'm a fighter."

I'm not talking to Grace anymore either. I became friends with her again because I thought she was getting her life back together. I was wrong. I decided our friendship wasn't strong enough and I pointed it out to her. She decided to have a power trip. She agreed with me, and she acted like SHE was the one getting rid of ME for HER own good. Yeah...okay. *raised eyebrow* The last thing I'd like to mark as a change for me is that I've actually built something. Not some small Bionicle or Lego creation, but something more substantial. Behold....my futon!

Before

After

There was no bed waiting for me at the August house, so I eventually bought myself a futon. At first I just used the mattress and slept on the floor, but it doesn't really look all that great if I have friends over, so I decided to actually build the frame. It took longer than usual because I decided to watch some movies while I built it, but the satisfaction of building a piece of furniture I bought myself is a really good feeling. This may not deserve the reference to Star Wars, but this was a day I felt like a hero.
